GRAND FORKS COUNTY, N.D. – Fire departments from Manvel and Emerado battled a large grass fire northwest of the Grand Forks Airport Sunday afternoon working to keep the wildfire from spreading to nearby homes. The smoke was visible miles away. There’s no word on what sparked the fire.
A combination of dry conditions, high winds, and warm temperatures have created critical fire weather conditions across all of Eastern North Dakota and Western Minnesota this afternoon and evening.
As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from noon Monday until 1 a.m.Tuesday for much of the region.
