FARGO, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Duluth advanced to their fourth straight Frozen Four with a 3-2 five-overtime win over the University of North Dakota in the NCAA Tournament.
Freshman Luke Mylymok scored the game-winner for his second goal of the season in a historic game from Scheels Arena.

It took 142 minutes and 13 seconds to determine a victor, the longest NCAA Tournament game in history and the third-longest ever men’s or women’s college hockey game.
The Bulldogs found the back of the net first early in the third period. Jackson Cates gave UMD the lead 3 minutes and 21 seconds into the final period of regulation, followed by teammate Cole Koepke adding another goal 1 minute and 20 seconds later.
Trailing 2-0, UND was on the verge of being shutout for the first time in 65 games, then Collin Adams scored with 1:41 left in the third period and Jordan Kawaguchi tied the contest 44 seconds later.

Zach Stejskal saved 57 shots and was taken out of the contest in the fourth overtime due to cramps according to UMD head coach Scott Sandelin. Ryan Fanti came in off the bench, making 6 saves in the final 17 minutes and 36 seconds.
Adam Scheel played the entire game between the pipes with 51 saves for UND.
UP NEXT
UMD (15-10-2) has won their ninth straight NCAA Tournament game and will play the University of Massachusetts in the Frozen Four from Pittsburgh on April 8.
UND ends the season 22-6-1 overall.
