MINOT, N.D. – The Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier Rebels held onto a 43-40 win over the Grafton Spoilers in the Class B boys basketball semifinals on Friday.
With 3.1 seconds left in regulation, Justin Garza’s three-point shot from right-wing hit off the front of the rim for the tie.
Alex Huber paced E-K-M with 16 points and 4 rebounds, while Dalton Madcke and Adam Nitschke added 9 points each.
Stevan Garza scored a game-high 22 points and went 9-18 from the floor for the Spoilers.
Grafton will play in the third-place game at 6 p.m. from the Minot State Dome on Saturday.
E-K-M advances to their first state championship game as a co-op on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. They’ll play the winner of Four Winds-Minnewaukan/Kindred.
Edgeley last appeared in a championship in 1990 and Kulm last played in a championship in 1958.
