DILWORTH, Minn (KFGO) – A home has been destroyed in a fire in Dilworth. It was reported about 7:30 Thurs. morning in the 800 Block of 7th St. NE.
The only person in the home was taken to the hospital. Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting says a passerby saw the resident come out of the house and into his car to keep warm until the man could be taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Empting, who is also Dilworth Fire Chief, tells KFGO News the fire was difficult to handle as the house was packed full of items leaving many hot spots. Firefighters started attacking those smoldering sections from the roof of the one-story house.
Dilworth had mutual aid from the Moorhead Fire Department.
