SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State University defeated the University of South Dakota 80-74 in the Summit League men’s basketball tournament on Monday evening.
Trailing 66-57 with 7:12 left to play, NDSU outscored USD 23-8 to close out their semifinal round game from the Sanford Pentagon.
Sam Griesel made a jumper with 4:01 left in the second half to give the Bison a 69-68 lead, which they never gave up.
Griesel finished with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Rocky Kreuser tailed a team-high 20 points and went 10-11 from the free-throw line for NDSU.

Stanley Umude paced USD (14-11 overall) with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
NDSU ( 15-11 overall) will play Oral Roberts in the Summit League championship game on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
