BROOKINGS, S.D. (NDSU Athletics) – The North Dakota State women’s track & field team won its 14th consecutive conference indoor team title on Sunday afternoon, taking first at the Summit League Indoor Championships.
The Bison women racked up 225 points for the win, with South Dakota finishing second at 146 points and South Dakota State third with 127.5. The 79-point margin of victory was the largest since 2014.
Bison senior Jennie Baragar-Petrash was named the Track Championship MVP, winning the mile and the 5000m on Sunday to complete her sweep of the three distance events after taking the 3000m title on Saturday. She opened the day running 4:43.59 in the mile – a new personal-best that ranks third in school history – and capped it with a new meet record 16:25.16 in the 5000m, moving to fourth on the NDSU all-time list.
NDSU’s Akealy Moton set a new Summit League meet record, throwing 56-11.25 (17.35m) to win the shot put crown. She will likely enter the NCAA Championships ranked third in the nation.
Jodi Lipp claimed her second conference title of the weekend, winning the triple jump with a personal-best 41-01.50 (12.53m). She became just the third Bison woman ever to top 41 feet indoors.
NDSU junior Daejha Moss captured the high jump title, clearing 5-08.25 (1.73m), and also placed fourth in the triple jump with a personal-best 38-6 (11.73m). She totaled 21 points for the Bison in the meet, earning Field Championship MVP honors as the top scorer in the field events.
Senior Peyton Frolek won her second straight Summit League 800m title in 2:10.56.
Sophomore Kendra Kelley sprinted to a runner-up finish in the 200m dash, clocking a personal-best 24.23 to rank third in NDSU indoor history. She also placed sixth in the 60m dash.
Alyssa Lind, Frolek, Grace Zimmerman and Nell Graham placed second in the 4x400m relay, clocking a season-best 3:47.85.
Tasha Willing was the Summit League runner-up in the shot put, throwing a personal-best 52-09.25 (16.08m) to rank sixth in NDSU indoor history. Redshirt freshman Michaela Hawkins took fifth place.
Bailey Cowling placed third in the high jump to give the Bison a 1-3 finish.
Senior Ansley Schug earned the first All-Summit League honor of her career, placing third in the 60m hurdles in 8.55. The Bison women finished 3-5-6 with Salmata Korgho fifth and Bailee Dierks sixth.
Graham led a 4-5-8 finish for the Bison in the 400m dash, running a personal-best 56.25. Lind took fifth, and Zimmerman was eighth.
Jen Dufner ran a 5000m personal-best of 17:15.23 to take fourth place, ranking 10th in NDSU indoor history. Erin Valgardson clocked a personal-best 4:54.87 to place fourth in the mile.
NDSU’s 225 team points were its highest total since scoring 226 in 2017.
