BURNSVILLE, Minn. (MSUM Athletics) — Minnesota State University Moorhead junior forward Peyton Boom has been named to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division First Team in women’s basketball, the league announced on Wednesday.
Guard Karley Motschenbacher was named to the All-NSIC North All-Freshmen Team as well.
Boom, who was an All-NSIC North Second Team selection in 2019-20, leads MSUM in scoring (13.7 points) and rebounding (5.7) on the season. She’s scored in double figures in nine of the Dragons’ 12 games, with a career-high of 27 points in a win over Minnesota Crookston on Jan. 9.
The Barnesville, Minn., native is shooting 84 percent from the line and 48.6 percent from the field overall. She leads the team with 37 offensive rebounds.
Motschenbacher has made an immediate impact for the Dragons in her freshman season. She’s averaging 7.6 points per game and has scored in double figures three times. She had a career-high 22 points in the Dragons’ 76-75 win over UMary on Feb. 13. She was named NSIC North Player of the Week after that weekend.
The Dragons will face Augustana on Thursday in Sioux Falls in the quarterfinals of the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament.
