WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A U.S. judge said on Tuesday he will not block California’s state net neutrality law aimed at protecting the open internet, according to a lawyer who listened to the hearing.
Several trade groups had filed suit to block California’s net neutrality law of 2018 that has never taken effect.
Earlier this month, the U.S. Justice Department withdrew its Trump-era legal challenge to the California law.
Andrew Jay Schwartzman, a senior counselor for the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society that filed in support of California, said the judge’s decision was a “huge victory for net neutrality.”
