BURNSVILLE, Minn. (MSUM Athletics) — Minnesota State University Moorhead freshman guard Karley Motschenbacher has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division Player of the Week in women’s basketball, the league announced on Monday.
It is the first time a Dragon women’s player has received the honor this season and the first of Motschenbacher’s young Dragon career.
The freshman from Moorhead had a big weekend in helping MSUM sweep at UMary. She averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game on the weekend. She shot 80 percent (12-of-15) from the field overall. She had a career-high 22 points and hit the game-winning free throw in the final seconds during Saturday’s 76-75 Dragon win.
