FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – A four-alarm fire displaced residents of an apartment house at 711 10th Avenue North in Fargo.
Fire Department Battalion Chief Jason Ness says the fire was reported at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday in the laundry room of the multi-level house. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire. Most of the residents had already exited at that time.
Because the basement was cut up into apartments, crews had some initial difficulty locating the actual fire source. The fire was under control within 15 minutes.
Ness says there were no injuries. The biggest concern was finding a place for the 10 to 15 occupants unable to return to their apartments due to the smoke and fire damage. A MAT bus was staged nearby to keep the displaced residents warm. The Red Cross is working with tenants to obtain temporary lodging.
The most severe damage is in the basement. Utilities were damaged so there is no heat inside the building.
