RAPID CITY, SD (KFGO) – A Dakota State University student has been accepted into the United States Space Force.
Gabe Lamb is a senior from Rapid City, South Dakota in Cyber Operations. He is a Cadet Lieutenant Colonel in the DSU/SDSU Air Force ROTC. When he found out the Space Force Cyber Warfare Operations Division was accepting applications from members of the Air Force ROTC he wanted in.
“I went to field training this summer and came back and there was a volunteer list for Space Force. If you’re picked you can commission to the Space Force instead of the Air Force so I put my name down. Then about 2 weeks ago I heard I got a job in Space Force. It’s super exciting.” he said.

Space Force is the newest branch of the Armed Forces. Their mission is to organize, train, and equip space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. Lamb says the final frontier has interested him since he was a kid.
“I think about it all the time, how we were created and how everything started. I feel like it is our mission to explore space, it’s our duty to find other life out there. Space is infinite with infinite possibilities.”
Lamb has some advice for the dreamers out there.
“Chase your dreams. Recognize it is going to be a long process. If you meet the standards and requirements working towards your profession, anything can be achievable.”
After he graduates in May he will be commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant and will train this summer before starting with the space force.
