Minnesota National Guard
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Around 60 Minnesota National Guard soldiers based in St. Cloud are deploying to Kuwait and Iraq next week.
The B Company, 1st General Support Aviation Battalion, 171 Aviation Regiment leaves Monday to begin a nine-month mission. The Minnesota soldiers will use Chinook helicopters to fly troops, supplies, and equipment to support combat operations. The unit deployed in 2006 to support Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn in 2011 and, Operation Enduring Freedom in 2016.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the deployment ceremony will be streamed live on Facebook Monday at 1 p-m.
