SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota forward Julia Fleecs took home her first Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor of the season, league officials released Monday. Fleecs averaged 16.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 2.0 apg to help guide the Fighting Hawks to their first victory of the season and a weekend split with Western Illinois.
In the Fighting Hawks 79-57 win over Western Illinois, Fleecs led all scorers with a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds to go along with a pair of assists and a steal. It was her fifth double-double of the season.
In the second meeting with the Leathernecks, she followed up her 19-point performance by recording 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal. On the weekend Fleecs went 11-for-27 (.407) from the field with a pair of 3-pointers (.333) and was 9-for-11 from the charity stripe.
