BIG NEWS!
If you are a city of Fargo resident, the landfill has a new program for getting rid of some waste you normally wait until Clean Up Week to get rid of.
At the landfill, the transfer station (enclosed and with a concrete drive up) will now accept items like furniture, washing machines, cardboard and more FOR FREE!
You will be required to provide proof of residency and will also be asked to sort the items for their particular area inside the building. For example, you can drop off a dryer in one section and then drive over the another to get rid of that old couch.
Gone are the days in which you hold onto items for months in a garage or basement and wait for the annual clean up week (which will still happen, by the way).
Here is the official statement from the City of Fargo:
“A new Residential Transfer Station is now open at the #Fargo Landfill (4501 7th Ave. N.). The transfer station allows residents of Fargo to bring items including up to two Non-freon appliances (such as washers, dryers or dishwashers) per month, cardboard, automotive batteries, metal objects (such as grills, shelving, lawn mowers, snow blowers, patio furniture or bed frames), household garbage (including furniture and other large items) and all-in-one recycling to the Transfer Station at no charge.
