FARGO (KFGO) – KFGO personality Bob Harris is in battle with Covid-19.
Harris, host of the podcast “Harris Happening” and on-air “Nighttime Live,” has been in a Fargo hospital since Thanksgiving Day when he experienced shortness of breath.
His sister, Jeanie Smith, who has been in frequent contact with the medical staff, says Harris is in a coma. He went into cardiac arrest twice.
“He did say (doctor) that his lungs have improved, he was very, very sick with the covid pneumonia, his lungs were very full with the pneumonia, but he said that that has improved, a lot, so if he were awake, he would probably be able to go off the ventilator,” Smith reported.
Smith says if her brother does not regain consciousness soon, he will undergo an MRI. She says at this point, there are no signs that he has suffered a stroke or has brain damage.
KFGO Operations Manager Joel Heitkamp said Harris “is struggling for his life.”
Lend A Hand Up, a subsidiary of Dakota Medical Foundation, asked for prayers and support for Harris on its Facebook page. “He has passionately helped us build awareness of hundreds of fundraisers through the years. He has such a big heart. Let’s give him a piece of ours right now,” Lend A Hand Up said in the post.
Harris, who is 65, has been with KFGO for nearly 30 years and has worked in radio for more than 40 years.
