Lufthansa reaches crisis deal with union to cut costs

BERLIN (Reuters) – German airline Lufthansa has reached a new deal with trade union Verdi to cut 200 million euros in costs in return for making no compulsory redundancies up until March 2022, the trade union said on Wednesday.

Verdi agreed that about 35,000 ground staff would forego their usual Christmas bonus in 2020 and 2021 as well as holiday pay until the end of 2021, while it also agreed terms for voluntary redundancies.
