Here’s my obvious disclaimer: consult your doctor about the best supplements to take!
I’ve been home for over a week with my husband who was diagnosed with COVID-19. We tried to take all the right precautions: he stayed in the basement, only came upstairs wearing an N95 mask, used bleach… but yet, here I sit, with textbook-like COVID-19 symptoms. It started as body aches and chills, I spiked a fever, I have a very sore throat and I lost my sense of taste and smell. While I don’t have my test results back yet, I feel pretty confident I, too, have COVID-19.
Now what?
A family member who is a physician and works with COVID-19 patients reached out and said there are many tools to help the body optimize its immune response.
Upon the recommendation, here’s what I am taking:
Vitamin D – 5,000 mg/ day
Vitamin C – 5,000 mg/ day
Elderberry – 500 mg/ day
Zinc – up to 20-30 mg daily, if tolerated by stomach (this should be for a short period of time, can cause problems if you take chronically at a high dose)
NAC – 600 mg twice daily (for those with excessive mucus build up)
Quercetin & Bromelain (usually found together) – this is a very potent anti inflammatory supplement
Also, if you are having trouble breathing, laying on your stomach can help.
As it was said to me, “These are recommendations for good immune support so the body fight off COVID more efficiently.”
Everyone’s response to COVID-19 is different and I’m in no place to tell you what to do. That is between you and your doctor.
Just wanted to pass along the information I have… stay healthy, friends.
