FARGO (KFGO) – Last month, the Cass County Highway Department launched an online poll to get public comment regarding potential speed limit increases on selected county paved highways.
County Engineer Jason Benson says based on the response, it’s clear there’s is a lot of interest. Nearly 1,700 people responded to the survey. 97% favored the increase while just 3% were opposed.
Based on research, there are seven highways totaling 134 miles throughout the county that could see the 65-mph speed limit. The decision is up to county commissioners, who will discuss the possible changes at Monday’s meeting.
The highways include:
Cass County 6 from ND 18 to Cass 38
Cass County 10 from Wheatland to Mapleton
Cass County 4 from ND 38 to Argusville
Cass County 26 from Barnes County to I-29
Cass 38 from ND 46 to I-94
Cass 11 from Mapleton to Cass 4
Cass 15 from Kindred to I-94
The highways must meet certain design safety standards.
