A lot of parents are struggling with the decision of whether or not to trick-or-treat… and, I understand. As we are in the midst of a global pandemic, I think most of us are trying to make the best decisions we can, while also keeping some fun and “normalcy” for kids (and adults!).
Let’s look to other holidays to help us come up with a memorable (and candy-filled) Halloween!
Here a few ideas if you are looking to opt-out of going door-to-door:
Trick-or-Treat Baskets
Think of this like an Easter basket. Take the kids Halloween trick-or-treat bucket or bag and fill it with goodies!
Scavenger Hunt
(Yes, a lot like an Easter egg hunt!) Hide small pumpkins (that they can turn in for treats), or pieces of candy around the house and yard. If your kids are little bit older, write little riddles to find the next piece of candy.
Make a New Tradition
Chances are you have a tradition for Christmas Eve… now make one for Halloween. Watch a Halloween movie, carve a pumpkin, get new Halloween jammies, cook a favorite meal together, make sugar cookies and decorate them. The possibilities are endless and they don’t have to be extraordinary or expensive.
Here’s to making new traditions and spending time together.
Happy Halloween!
