MOORHEAD, MINN. (KFGO) – The Moorhead City Council approved a resolution for a purchase agreement of city-owned property for a planned housing project on the city’s southeast side.
Developer Justin Berg is purchasing 77 acres of city-owned land south of 40th Avenue, between 20th and 28th Streets for one million dollars. He has an 8-to 10-year plan for that project. The developer is also planning another housing project directly north of that property.
Acting City Manager Dan Mahli says later this month, the city council will consider a request for a tax increment financing district for another large residential and commercial project at what is now a strip mall at Eighth Street and I-94.
He says the partnership between the city and Enclave, the developer, will be a mixed-use project with an investment of more than $30 million, with 127 multi-family units, including affordable housing and new commercial development. which will include affordable and new commercial development.:
Mahli told council members, Moorhead is seeing “accelerating growth,” despite the epidemic. So far, 187 single-family home building permits have been issued, compared to 190 all of last year.
