FARGO (KFGO) – The contractor leading construction of an Amazon distribution center in north Fargo has asked the city to allow around-the-clock work.
Minneapolis-based Ryan Companies has also proposed a long list of infrastructure improvements at the site, north of Hector International Airport. The work includes city-designed and constructed storm sewer and water main extensions and road upgrades with much of the work to be completed by next August.
The city’s public works project evaluation committee has approved Ryan’s proposal to construct 44th Ave. N infrastructure on its own while other facets of the developer’s agreement are still under review.
Planning documents say appropriate approvals are needed to keep the project moving. KFGO News, citing multiple sources with knowledge of the project, reported earlier this week that Amazon is building a multi-million dollar building on more than 100 acres. Amazon has declined comment.
The fulfillment center, as Amazon refers to its large warehouses, could create a thousand jobs. Construction is expected to be completed in August or September of 2021.
