BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – North Dakota’s top elections official says residents who plan to vote by mail should prepare to send back their ballots without delay.
North Dakota is one of 46 states that were warned by the U.S. Postal Service that it cannot guarantee on-time delivery of completed ballots.
Secretary of State Al Jaeger says voters must request the ballots, unless they voted by mail in the June election.
“They don’t automatically get sent out. Voters have to apply. Those ballots will be sent out 40 days before the election because voters on the domestic side can begin casting their ballots on September 24th.”
Jaeger says ballots must be postmarked on, or before election day, but he says they’ll be accepted until the state canvassing board meets on the Monday following election day.
