Gov. Doug Burgum
FARGO (KFGO) โ North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum is indicating that he does not plan to executive powers to cancel the high school football season due to COVID-19.
During an interview on KFGOโs โNews & Viewsโ Burgum was asked whether North Dakota high schools should be allowed to play football this season. Burgum said that determination will be up to the North Dakota High School Activities Association.
โTheyโre the ones driving that decisionโ Burgum said.
Burgum also said itโs unfortunate that face coverings have become politicized during the pandemic. He said there are a lot of studies indicating that masks arenโt perfect, but they do slow the spread of coronavirus.
โThereโs a lot of aspects of the pandemic that have been politicized. This is one unfortunate one because for all the trillions of dollars in federal support, one of the cheapest ways to slow the spread of an infection is wearing a maskโ Burgum said.
โNext time you have surgery, just tell all the nurses and the doctors in the room that they donโt need to wear one. Thereโs a reason they do. Itโs to protect the patient and to prevent the spread of infection.โ
