HILLSBORO, N.D. – The Central Cass Squirrels topped the Thompson Tommies 11-7 in the North Dakota Impact softball league championship Tuesday night.
Central Cass got the offense started in the bottom of the third inning with a Peyton Nelson 3-run home run jumping out to a 3-0 lead.
Thompson got on the board in the top of the fourth inning on a Mya Krogstad RBI triple that made it 4-1 Central Cass. Krogstad led the Tommies going 3 for 4 with a run scored and 3 RBI.
Squirrels pitcher Aubree Lindstrom gave up 7 runs on 10 hits with 13 strike outs in 7 innings work. Bailey McKinnon went 3 for 3 scoring 2 runs with 3 RBI, including a solo home run.
Central Cass earned their way to the championship with a 5 inning 9-1 victory over Cass Trail in the semifinals.
Thompson defeated Hankinson 9-1 in the semifinals to make the championship game.
