RedHawks silenced at Newman, slip to 1-4 on the shortened season.
FARGO-RedHawks fall to the Goldeyes 5-0 Wednesday night.
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were the road team on the scoreboard for the first time in franchise history Wednesday night, and the slow start to the season continued.
The RedHawks were unable to crack Winnipeg starting pitcher Mitchell Lambson, who pitched six scoreless innings only allowing three hits, and striking out three.
The Goldeyes cracked the scoreboard in the second on a Wes Darvill single that scored Kyle Martin and Logan Hill, making it 2-0 Winnipeg. They would add one more run on in the fifth on a Kyle Lachance single.
The Goldeyes would take a 4-0 lead on a Ray Morales double that would bring across Darvill. Add one more insurance run in the eighth for good measure, it was too much for the RedHawks to overcome.
The RedHawks got a solid start from starting pitcher Brett Hagens, who struck out nine over four and two thirds innings.
The RedHawks will be on the road at home again tomorrow night, as they continue their series with the Goldeyes. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05, pregame on the 740 The Fan kicks off at 6:40.
