Social media post prompts Cass County Sheriff’s Office to launch internal investigation

FARGO, ND (KFGO) – Sunday night The Cass County Sheriff’s Office announced in a statement that they have placed an employee on administrative leave and will investigate a recent post made on social media.

“In the early afternoon hours of July 5^th, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of an insensitive social media post by a non-licensed correctional deputy that has drawn the attention of Native Lives Matter and others who viewed it.

The post was sent from the employee’s personal social media account while off duty.  Due to the content, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office immediately placed the employee on administrative leave pending the results of an internal investigation regarding this incident.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office does not condone behavior, conduct and/or comments that are derogatory in nature  and we expect all employees to maintain a high level of professionalism, both on and off duty, at all times.   The Sheriff’s Office will comment on this incident further after more information is gathered through the internal investigation.”
