U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded the Dickinson Public School District a Farm to School grant totaling $49,571.
These funds come as part of $12.1 million investment into 159 farm to school projects.
The Dickinson Public School District will use these funds to increase local fruit and vegetable procurement and agricultural education for its 4,085 K-12 students in Stark County, North Dakota.
The district will develop an agriculture education pathway for K-8 students that connects to the high school’s agriculture courses, promote healthy eating habits, and create a Farm to School Action Plan for sustainability.
The district will collaborate with North Dakota State University’s Cooperative Extension to complete the proposed project.
