FARGO (KFGO) – The amount of private donations necessary for the proposed Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora will be raised before the end of this calendar year. That’s according to Ed O’Keefe, the library’s Chief Executive Officer.
“The T.R. Library will raise the funds necessary to unlock the endowment by the end of this year and before the 2021 legislative session” O’Keefe said.
Under a deal approved by the North Dakota Legislature, the state will contribute $50 million to the library if $100 million can be raised through private donations.
O’Keefe says the Theodore Roosevelt Library will be an “economic stimulus for North Dakota”
“To make it clear, the question is not really whether we proceed. The question is whether North Dakota wants $200 million-plus of private investment in the economy of the state”
The preferred site is on U.S. Forest Service Land in Medora. The library has been a top priority of Gov. Doug Burgum.
