ST. CLOUD, MN (KFGO) – Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office says a temporary injunction will keep six central Minnesota bars from re-opening in violation of the governor’s executive orders.
The Stearns County injunction means Shady’s locations must fully comply with the restrictions under Stay Safe Minnesota for the duration of the lawsuit or until the state executive order is lifted. Owner Kris Schiffler repeatedly announced his intention to open Shady’s for on-site consumption May 17. The attorney general was given a temporary restraining order preventing a re-opening.
Ellison said, “all Minnesotans, especially the folks who live in and near Stearns County can be relieved that the court has put their health first by granting this temporary injunction. He notes that Stearns County has the third-highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Minnesota and the second-highest rate of all counties per capita.
