Dr. Derine Winning from Valley Veterinary Hospital joins It Takes Two with Amy & JJ to answer questions from listeners about their pets’ health and well being. In this episode, Dr. Winning talks about dogs acting strangely when their owner is pregnant, the emotional changes our pets are going through while we are home during COVID-19 and much more. Listen in the player below.
The CDC recommends treating your pet as a member of the family when it comes to their interaction with the outside world during this time of quarantine and social isolation. Dr. Winning gives some great advice on how to keep your pet safe.
She also field a great question about a pooch that loves to take walks, but seems scared of the harness. Dr. Winning suggests positive reinforcement. Giving a treat whenever the harness comes out. Get the dog used to the presence of the harness. Even young pups can remember a pinch or the uncomfortable feel of having a harness on too long.
