BISMARCK, ND (KFGO) – Gov. Doug Burgum says if North Dakota continues making progress in its response plan for Covid-19, businesses that were shut down by executive order last month can reopen on Friday, May 1.
“But what this means is that if you are in the personal care business, a bar, a restaurant owner, others, it’s all voluntary, you’re not required to open this weekend, but it you chose to open heading into this weekend that’s something you can do, again if you’re able to meet guidelines which we will be announcing regarding hygiene and distance and taking care of your, protecting your customers and your team members,” Burgum said at his Monday afternoon Covid-19 briefing. More specific details are expected to be announced Tuesday.
Burgum says new guidelines will address physical distancing and wearing masks in certain locations.
Burgum closed dine-in restaurants, bars, personal care businesses and theaters on March 19. He says for the time being, North Dakota schools will remain closed.
