Tuesday, April 14, 2020: The snowfall this morning was beautiful… if it was December!
We are used to it raining and stopping… but lately, it’s been snowing and stopping! And, the weather may seem more daunting because you are home and looking to get outside, but it is a little out of the ordinary. Yesterday (Monday, April 13, 2020) was only 5 degrees higher than the record low – and about 30 degrees colder than the average high! Our average high is 55 degrees for this time of year.
Snowfall totals have been higher than usual, as well. As of 2am today, we’ve had 5.2 inches in April – we average about 3 inches. We have had more snow at the beginning of April than we had during what we consider our “snowiest” time of the year.
The good news: starting tomorrow we will add a few degrees each day until Saturday, when it looks like temps could be near 60!
And, when is the latest we could get a snowfall that sticks to the ground? Well, Szymanski says we aren’t out of the woods yet… he recalls a snowfall as late as May 20th (ish).
Also in the podcast above: Why does it snow if it’s over 32 degrees?
