We know being away from family, especially during the holidays, can be hard. So, here are a few ways to connect with family and friends during Easter AND a global pandemic.
Easter Ideas… from a-far
- Mail an Easter Surprise – and it doesn’t have to be anything big or grand. You don’t even have to go out and buy anything!
- If you are a grandparent or parent of adult children, mail your children or grandchildren something familiar to them – an Easter decoration you always put up (that they would recognize) or a card they have made in the past.
- If you have a parent or grandparent who you can’t see, make them a card! You don’t have to be a kid to write a note or draw a picture.
- And, for the kids, ANYTHING in package they have to unwrap is fun. Or buy the ingredients for one of their favorite treats and make them together.
- Games to play – from a distance – via Zoom or Facetime! While it might be hard to play a card game, here a few ideas of games you could play…
- Bingo – Assign someone to be the caller, have everyone MUTE their microphones and wave to tell the caller you have a Bingo! If you want to print your own custom cards, try the website www.print-bingo.com
- Scattergories – Everyone gets the same list of items… pick a letter… and set a timer! When the time is up, each word (as long as it is not on anyone else’s list and is agreed upon) is worth one point, and two word answers with the same letter are worth 2!
- Password – Pick a word, have your partner turn away from the camera, show the camera the word everyone is trying to identify. And, start playing!
- Church – If your family celebrates Easter by going to a church service together, find a church streaming their service online and all “go together”. Each family can stream it, so you can all be watching and listening to the same thing – at the same time.
- Group Watch – Just like you can all watch a church service together, you can all watch a movie together! Decide on a movie and each of you will turn it on at the same time! You can even Facetime or Zoom after so everyone can talk about it! If you have Netflix, they provide a group watch platform called “Netflix Party“.
- Show & Tell – Remember as kids we all used to pick an item to bring to school for show & tell? Well, it’s the same concept. Have everyone pick an item in the house and each person gets to show & tell about it. Maybe the kids can show off some of the art they have made while they’ve been home and maybe you can show off an old dress you haven’t pulled out of the closet in a while or your newly organized junk drawer.
- Eat Together… this might sound silly, but set-up your phone or computer at the dinner table!
- Easter Egg Hunt – And, last but not least, if you are looking for a way to host an Easter Egg Hunt – CLICK HERE – Woman’s Day have come up with some options!
However you do it, we hope you find a way to connect with someone you love over the holiday weekend.
Stay home. Stay Safe.
