HURON, S.D. (KFGO KWAT) – The second South Dakotan to die from the COVID-19 virus was a teacher in Huron. Family members say 51-year-old Mari Hofer died of coronavirus Saturday in a Sioux Falls hospital.
She was a third grade teacher at James Valley Christian.
Hofer was one of several members of her extended family who tested positive for COVID-19.
One of the others is Republican State Representative Bob Glanzer of Huron, who remains hospitalized in Sioux Falls.
The first South Dakotan to die from the virus was a man in his 60s from Pennington County who died at a hospital in Mitchell.
