WASHINGTON, D.C. (KFGO) – Senator Kevin Cramer is facing criticism for his tweet that used a derogatory word to describe Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over her comments about the economic stimulus package.
The North Dakota Republican claims the autocorrect failed on his phone, changing the word ridiculous to the offensive R-word, a description of someone with limited in intellectual or emotional development.
North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party Chairwoman Kylie Oversen condemned the language and what she described as Cramer’s “attempt at an excuse.”
Oversen said the word is unacceptable for anyone, let alone an elected official, to use in any context. “Either he used it intentionally or it is a word the senator used often enough that his phone has it saved,” she said.
Cramer’s tweet was in response to a twitter post from Daily Caller, a right-wing news and opinion website based in Washington, D.C. Cramer deleted the tweet not long after it was posted.
