UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – Lomas Brown may not have his bust in Canton, but he is headed to Atlanta.
The former Detroit Lions standout, who works alongside Dan Miller in the Lions’ radio booth, told reporters last year that his tenure with the Honolulu Blue and Silver, with just one playoff win during his NFL career, may have been a factor in him not getting serious Pro Football Hall of Fame consideration. However, on Wednesday, Brown was among 17 players and two coaches named to the 2020 College Football Hall of Fame.
Brown, who starred at the University of Florida before being drafted by Detroit sixth overall in the 1985 NFL draft, will be joined by another former Lions great – kicker Jason Hanson, a second-round choice from Washington State in 1992 who spent his entire 21-year career in Detroit – and one-time University of Michigan standout lineman John “Jumbo” Elliott in induction ceremonies at the New York Hilton Downtown on December 8th.
Also set for immortality at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta are players Keith Byards, Eric Crouch, Eric Dickerson, Glenn Dorsey, EJ Henderson, EJ Junior, Steve McNair, Cade McNown, Leslie O’Neal, Anthony Poindexter, David Pollack, Bob Stein, Michael Westbrook and Elmo Wright, along with coaches Dick Sheridan and Andy Talley. They were chosen through national balloting of a total of 177 players and 38 coaches.
