FARGO (KFGO) – After more than 30 years, Jack Sunday is leaving KFGO, but plans to maintain an off-air role.
Citing the health of his wife, who suffers from a rare neurological condition, Sunday said it was a difficult decision.
He moved to Fargo from Idaho in 1989 and has worked in several capacities, from program director to midday announcer to hosting “The Drive” late afternoons. Middays partners included Sandy Buttweiler and Amy Iler, now paired with JJ Gordon on “It Takes 2.”
“I am convinced that there is probably no other radio station in the country like KFGO, when I tell people that we have 17 or 20 people who are on the air live as personalities for extended periods of time, like we do, a 4-person news team, a meteorologist and sports, we have two great sportscasters here, plus on-air personalities with producers that become personalities themselves,” Sunday told KFGO News & Views host Joel Heitkamp.
Besides Idaho, Sunday worked in large market radio in Salt Lake City.
While Sunday is leaving his on-air role, he plans to develop a podcast that will be featured in the KFGO podcast line-up.
Sunday was a teenager when he first got into radio.
