I love building puzzles. It’s something I got into as my parent’s got older. When I’d go home for Thanksgiving or Christmas, they’d have a card table set up in their living room with a puzzle already in progress. As we visited, we’d put together puzzles. Oftentimes those puzzles were really challenging and you might find a piece or two every three hours. When you have about a half-dozen people working on the same puzzle, as challenging as it is, the pieces eventually start taking shape.
One of my daughters bought me this puzzle for Christmas.
It’s only 500 pieces, but boy is it a bugger. The people laying out on the sandy beach are so tiny you can hardly make them out.
I’ve been probably giving the puzzle a good hour or two of my time most days over the past two weeks and I still have a ways to go. I had a little help from my daughter who put the frame together with me and my sister-in-law who put in about 40 pieces when she was in town visiting after the New Year.
I believe puzzles should be challenging. It’s good to work our eyes and brains. Once I get this puzzle together, hopefully in another week’s time, it’s reversible. The other side looks even more challenging. It’ll probably be Spring before I finish the second side.
