Sport Climbing
In this podcast: Kyra Condie, a 23 year old professional climber from Shoreview, Minnesota who will be competing Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Her sport: Sport climbing! Which, makes its debut at the 2020 Olympics.
Condie says she’s been climbing to the wrong side of objects her whole life. And while trees and playground structures if where it started, she believes her real passion for the sport came from a birthday party when she was 10 years old. They were wall climbing at a local gym and she’s been hooked ever since.
Subsequently, Condie has been training herself and competing since the age of 15.
2020 Tokyo Olympics
Now living in Salt Lake City, UT, Condie is working with some of the best in the world and getting ready for the Olympics, which start on July 24, 2020.
Sport climbing is new to the Olympics and Condie breaks down what the competition will look like.
There will be 3 disciplines: Speed, Bouldering and Lead. Each athlete’s overall standing will be determined by multiplying their placements for each event, with lower scores ranking higher. (CLICK HERE to read more about it.)
