Almost every home has a dusty copy of Monopoly or a well loved box of Clue played during rainy days at the lake.
Over the past decade, board games have come a long way and have become big business. Elaborate games that take hours to setup (let alone play) are on the market for $100 plus. While other card based games are becoming family night favorites. In a market that was once dominated by a handful of companies, start ups using Kickstarter as a platform have carved out large audiences and continue to make bank on games by selling add-ons and expansion packs.
Phil Godel is a member of the KFGO family and happens to be a collector of board games. These competitive sets have been a part of his family for decades and his love of time around the kitchen table has grown into a collection of dozens of games spanning from quick 15 minute “one-and-dones” to massive games that go on for several days at a time.
