Here’s a little sample from the newspapers from 100 years ago today!
Jan. 17th 1920 Prohibition began. Even though it was ratified in 1919 today was the official start. There were headlines like this everywhere across the country!
First up in an article from the Evening Ledger in Philadelphia. First Lady Edith Wilson was known for her writing skills and often answer letters in newspapers during World War I. Now she was offering recipes. Here’s one for “Southern Sweet-Potato Pie” that goes back 100 years.
Here’s a little filler out of the Washington Times. When smoke backs up from the Chimney…must be clogged with something…..right?

Even though it’s from New York, I found this interesting tidbit in the Alaska Daily News out of Juneau. Yeah, I’d love my baker to be clean too!
