Patrick Kasper has more energy and drive than most people. Whether he is tapping across a stage or typing across a keyboard – creation and creativity are like water and air to him. He needs them to survive and thrive.
He channeled that creativity into a book…and then took that book and formed it into a stage musical. He wrote the words and then the lyrics. Had friends sit around and give feedback. He later brought in some more theater folk to give feedback and now he is ready to let the public see the show in a rough form. You get a full production, but this experience is important to help Patrick figure out what other tweaks the show requires.
“Purple Rhymes with Orange”, an original, family-friendly musical written and directed by Patrick Kasper, will be performed Saturday, January 25th, 2020 at 7:30pm at Shanley Theater
PURPLE RHYMES WITH ORANGE is the fun-filled story of protagonist ORANGE who is seeking his soul mate with his friend GREY as his guide. Along the way, ORANGE meets a colorful cast of characters who fill his Tabula Rasa (empty slate) with comedy, drama, song, and dance. During the journey, we also find out that GREY has a quest of his own, and his motives may be more serious, personal and far reaching than we are first lead to believe. Can these colorful characters teach them the important lessons they need to find what they’re looking for and discover what is truly important?
The energetic, inspiring, and entertaining production features 14 original songs, including Broadway-style show tunes, catchy pop numbers, and powerful ballads, as well as a number of exciting large-group dance numbers, including tap dancing lumberjacks, a Fosse-style coffee shop ensemble, and an 80’s aerobics class. This show about friendship, family, and love will be sure to leave audiences with warm hearts, wide smiles, and a few catchy tunes stuck in their head.
