EAST GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KNOX) – Portions of East Grand Forks, MN were without power for several hours last night after a problem developed with a substation. The fire department responded to the site off Highway 2 around 9:00 p.m.
Residents reported seeing bright flashing lights and fire coming from the substation. City crews also responded to assess the situation.
The outage impacted about half the city, primarily east of Highway 22. The lights also went out at the Civic Center disrupting the high school hockey game between Grand Forks Central and East Grand Forks.
East Grand Forks Water and Light issued a statement shortly after 11:30 p-m that the lights were back on.
