Congressman Collin Peterson from the 7
th
District
of Minnesota is Chairman of the United States House of Representatives Agriculture
Committee. If that sounds impressive, it should. That’s because it
is
.
The 7
th
District is about agriculture. To have a
Congressman in the most important position to help ag isn’t an act of luck. It’s
a result of hard work and dedication. It’s also a product of time.
Collin Peterson doesn’t know if he’s running again. If he
does know, he’s not
saying
.
I asked the Congressman just that. His answer was if he chose to run, it would
be a commitment to three more terms. He feels he will need that many to pass a
new farm bill.
That alone tells you he might not. Collin Peterson is 75
years old. Add six years to that and ask yourself if you would want to be there.
My guess is no.
Congressman Peterson loves being in Congress. He’s good at
it. So there could be another reason why he’s having this debate. He’s sick of
how government is working.
Peterson was one of two Democrats to vote against the
impeachment inquiry. He thinks this process is flawed. He thinks his party is
mishandling it. He thinks it shouldn’t happen.
Imagine going to work everyday without a team to be on.
I’m not sure I would want to be there either.
Good riding with you.
