Ben Elliot didn’t want the offer of “is there anything I can do,” to be hollow when cancer struck close to his friend group. So when he learned of Be The Match, a Minneapolis based organization that keeps a library or blood samples from willing donors to help those battling blood cancer, he knew that this was a fitting tribute and a way to make good on his offer.
Cut to the day he received the call that a man across the country he had never met was a 10/10 match and Ben’s donation could mean the difference between life or death.
No hesitation. This is what he had signed up for.
Ben and Doug would be connected for life.
They’ve met face to face already, but this weekend is something special. Doug is traveling to Minnesota to meet up with Ben (and his family) – but a friendly rivalry is part of the trip.
(Ben and Doug)
Ben is a Minnesota Golden Gophers fan…Doug is a Penn State fan. Both teams are currently undefeated and on Saturday, November 9th they will face off in TCF Bank Stadium.
These two friends will be wearing rival team jerseys, but no matter who wins the game – they both won through an unlikely friendship.
