Sadie is a 3rd grader at Willow Park Elementary. She
was hospitalized in Fargo in July with a bacterial
infection and was then diagnosed with hemolytic
uremic syndrome (HUS). With this diagnosis, she
was air-lifted to the pediatric intensive care unit in
Sioux Falls for the pediatric dialysis program. She
developed complications and was then transferred
via airplane to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis
where she has undergone multiple surgical
procedures. She continues to be treated and will
require outpatient dialysis for an undetermined
amount of time for a full recovery.
