The number one complaint that employers in the area deal with right now is finding, retaining and teaching qualified individuals to be their employees. Often times, we see more “NOW HIRING” signs dotted along the road instead of advertisements for the businesses themselves. A manager hopes for a warm body so they can fulfill the shift numbers or an owner needs someone, ANYONE, just to keep their business open.
More than a few businesses will even hire on the spot and put a person to work, which gives the employees in the FM area a lot of power. You don’t want to work on a Tuesday and the boss won’t give you the day off. You can walk out, get a job across the street and the world keeps spinning for the employee.
This is not the case at Hatch Realty.
(JJ Gordon at Erik Hatch’s Book Release, Sept 2019)
No, not at all. In fact, Erik Hatch and his team have designed a nine step hiring process that makes a potential employee WORK to just get to the next step of the job. The position isn’t handed out on a silver platter, the goal is to make sure that this individual will excel, enjoy their time, lift up their team members and make the company better by being a part of it.
Here are the steps
1. Cast a Wide Net
2. Research Candidates
3. Career Night
4. Essay Questions
5. Phone Interview
6. Reference Checks
7. 3-Hour INterview
8. Validation by Department
9. Offer the Job
Erik details a few of these items and how this set of guidelines did not happen overnight. You can hear the passion in Erik’s voice, he doesn’t set out to find someone…he sets out to find THE ONE! And he also makes sure that his company is the right spot for that individual.
