Declining sales and difficulty at the corporate level has amounted to the Perkins in Jamestown closing their doors and laying off their employees.
Dale Redinger saw this as an opportunity. He has reached out to former Perkins employees and offered them an immediate job opening at the cafe he runs at the S & R Truck Plaza in Jamestown.
Faced with a worker shortage himself, Dale sees this as not only a way to fill the roster at the cafe, but also a chance to do some good in the community he calls home.
Noting that only a few years back Dale said he prayed to have the business Perkins did. They were the most popular restaurant in Jamestown. Now, he is doing even better than Perkins ever did – but its not without a bit of a sting.
Perkins was one of three businesses that closed in the last week in Jamestown. Competition is good, it means that business is thriving. When “Going Out Of Business” or “Closed” signs start appearing, there is a cause for worry.
Stop into the S & R Truck Plaza next time you are headed down I94 and thank Dale. You can even meet some of the employees who took Dale up on the offer and are already serving up things like Hot Beef Sandwiches or All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti!
