WEST FARGO (KFGO) – The Director of the West Fargo Public Works Dept. has resigned, days following the firing of his top assistant.
The city says Public Works Director Chris Brungardt has submitted his resignation, effective at the end of the year. He’s been with the city for about 20 years.
Citing privacy laws on personnel matters, City spokeswoman Melissa Richard says she cannot comment on a possible connection between the termination of Assistant Public Works Director Ryan James and Brungardt.
According to his personnel file requested by KFGO News, James was disciplined last October for his leadership style, but Brungardt noted improvement in June. He wrote that both he and James needed to continue to work as a team to better understand a changing, younger workforce.
