Three of my best friends from high school and I went to Lambeau Field to see our beloved Vikings face the Packers. It was my first time going there as a fan, with the other time being 2005, when I was representing KFGO as a media member’ at the playoff game were the Vikings shocked the Packers with a win, and Randy Moss fake mooning the crowd which sent Joe Buck into a tizzy.
The experience as a fan was second to none, and the Packer fans were so welcoming and gracious I almost feel bad for cheering against them as hard as I do…….well almost. As you can see by the image I attached to this blog, there were couples, friends, and groups of fans tailgating together clad in either purple or green jerseys. In the stadium we had fun with the Packer fans around us and while we razzed each other a little bit, after the game, when the Vikings unfortunately lost, the shook our hands or fist bumped us saying, “Have a safe trip home.”
A far cry from what Joel Heitkamp had to put up with in Philadelphia at the NFC Championship Game getting head-butted and threats to assault his wife. Unlike Eagle fans, Packer and Viking fans get it; going to these games should be fun, not violent.
